What is SRD?
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) is a government-initiated social safety net that provides financial aid to eligible South African citizens and Asylum seekers, refugees, or other people who are in need.
The goal of the program is to assist in the struggle to make ends meet, while also ensuring that people have a reasonable chance of maintaining their dignity and self-reliance.
How does it work?
In order to receive the funds, one needs to be a South African citizen, have the required documents, and be between the ages of 18 and 60.
